Gil Roberts and Ajee' Wilson Win in Zagreb, Croatia

In one of the final European track and field meets of the year, Americans Gil Roberts and Ajee' Wilson both came away winners at the Memorial Borisa Hanzekovica, the IAAF World Challenge meeting in Zagreb, Croatia.

Roberts won the men's 400 meters in a meet-record 44.94 over Isaac Makwala of Botswana, the Diamond League champion. American Vernon Norwood finished third.

Wilson won the women's 800 in 1:57.72, just off the meet record. She led two other women, Winny Chebet of Kenya and Lyndsey Sharp of Great Britain, under the two-minute barrier. Jenny Simpson was also in action, finishing eighth in 2:01.64.
